The Five Steps of Spiritual Mind Treatment
Spiritual Mind Treatment is a form of prayer in which the practitioner unites with the power of the divine to undo the appearance of anything other than the divine Good which is always present. What follows is the process described by Ernest Holmes, author of The Science of Mind and founder of the Institute for Religious Science in 1927. Variations of these steps may be found in various New Thought publications... I. RECOGNITION (GOD IS) There is only One. I recognize God as the ultimate, limitless presence and power in the universe. God is all there is.
I recognize the infinite Spirit of God. I remember that God is the infinite Spirit, that is in and through all things, God is all powerful and wise, God is the perfect source of everything — perfect health, prosperity, happiness, harmony, intelligence, energy. God is a loving presence and ever available. As I begin to feel good, I have recognized God. I am feeling God’s presence of love, peace, wholeness, wisdom, grace and prosperity. Omniscient, Omnipresent, Omnipotent. II. UNIFICATION (I AM) I recognize God as the ultimate Presence and Power in and through everything, I now accept that I and God are one. I know God acts through me, as me, in me, and in all life. I am one with God, now. I unify with the presence of God. I have already listed and felt the characteristics of God. I now remind myself that I am part of God and I too, have all the qualities of the Infinite Spirit within me. My real spiritual self is perfect in every way, even if I face a situation that requires change. III. REALIZATION (I AFFIRM) I already know that I am part of God, I realize without doubt or reservation that the good I desire to experience is now taking form through God’s Power. I know my desire is complete and I accept it as done. I now imagine how I will feel when I fully receive what I am imagining in my marvelous mind. I Feel how wonderful it is to realize and see my dreams fulfilled. I Feel the experiences as though they are happening to me right now. I build mental pictures and intensify the thrill and confidence of knowing that I have mastery over all my apparent problems. I build the strongest possible feeling of already having what I want. The stronger the feeling, the stronger the treatment. IV. THANKSGIVING / ACCEPTANCE (I GIVE THANKS) Having clearly stated and affirmed what I want to experience, I thankfully accept that the good I desire is mine right now. I can feel it present in my life. I accept and give thanks for this good right here and now. If a friend invites me along for a wonderful trip, I am thankful in advance to know I am going, even if the trip isn’t happening immediately. It’s the same in treatment. I know that the omnipotent Spirit is already creating whatever I have treated for — and feel happy, excited and grateful. V. RELEASE (I LET GO and LET GOD) I thankfully accept my good as already accomplished, I release my prayer to the activity of the Universal Law of God's power in and through the one infinite Mind, I completely free myself from any concern. I let go and let God. I release this truth in total belief that it is done. I have recognized God and unified with God. I have felt the fulfillment of my desire as if it were happening now. I’ve given thanks. Now I let it go. I release it to the infinite power and intelligence of God’s law, secure in the knowledge that my desire is already assured. I can shut that door and go on, confidently, about my day. Use these five steps in every situation, to make your life and the lives of others happier, more fulfilled and manifestly aligned with the universe. |
