Calmness of mind is one of the beautiful jewels of wisdom. It is the result of long and patient effort in self-control. Its presence is an indication of ripened experience, and of a more than ordinary knowledge of the laws and operations of thought. A person becomes calm in the measure that they understand themself as a thought-evolved being, for such knowledge necessitates the understanding of others as the result of thought, and as they develop a right understanding, and see more and more clearly the internal relations of things by the action of cause and effect, they cease to fuss and fume, worry and grieve, and remain poised, steadfast, serene. The calm person, having learned how to govern themselves, knows how to adapt themselves among others; and others, in turn, reverence their spiritual strength, and feel that they can learn from a serene person and rely upon them. The more tranquil a person becomes, the greater is their success, their influence & their power for good. Even the ordinary worker will find business prosperity increasing as they develop greater self-control and equanimity, for people will always prefer to deal with one whose demeanor is equable. The strong, calm person is always loved and revered. They are like a shade-giving tree in a thirsty land, or a sheltering rock in a storm. “Who does not love a tranquil heart, a sweet-tempered, balanced life? It does not matter whether it rains or shines, or what changes come to those possessing these blessings, for they are always sweet, serene, and calm. That exquisite poise of character which we call Serenity is the final lesson of all culture; it is the flowering of life, the fruitage of the soul. It is precious as wisdom, more to be desired than gold. How insignificant mere money-seeking looks in comparison with a serene life—a life that dwells in the ocean of Truth, beneath the tempest waves, beyond the reach of the circumstances & condition, held deep within the Eternal Calm!” “How many people we know who sour their lives, who ruin all that is sweet and beautiful by explosive tempers, who destroy their poise of character, and make bad blood! It is a question whether the great majority of people do not ruin their lives and mar their happiness by lack of self-control. How few people we meet in life who are well balanced, who have that exquisite poise which is foundational to the finished character!” Yes, humanity surges with uncontrolled passion, is tumultuous with ungoverned grief, is blown about by anxiety, worry, doubt & fears. Yet only the wise person, only they whose thoughts are controlled and purified, can make the winds and the storms of the soul obey him. Tempest-tossed souls, wherever you may be, under whatsoever conditions ye may live, know this—in the ocean of life the isles of Blessedness are smiling, and the sunny shore of your ideal awaits your coming. Keep your hands firmly upon the helm of thought. Within the grand sailing vessel of your soul reclines the commanding Master; there the Master sleeps; awaken this Master. Self-control is strength; Right Thought is mastery; Calmness is power. Say unto your heart, “Peace be still!” James Allen

“Everyone who wills can hear the inner voice. It is within everyone.”
-Mahatma Gandhi Today start noticing—just noticing—the images you carry around in your mind and begin paying attention to things you would normally ignore or not attach any importance to. Notice the feelings that arise and the thoughts that knock on the door of your mind that you might ordinarily dismiss. The best way to strengthen your intuition is to acknowledge it. Keep listening, keep learning, and keep on developing a relationship with the magnificence that speaks to you, expresses through you and lives as you. You have the gift of intuition! Those “feelings”... those “hunches”... those "synchronies" & “coincidences”... they’re all important messages from the Divine mind, meant to guide you in the right direction. As you pay attention, you may be surprised by how often the voice of intuition tries to reach you during the course of every day. Now it’s time to take the next step. Today, as you hear from your intuition, don't look for confirmation in the loud external dramas of the outer world. Our intuition is God whispering from the deepest part of our soul. If you think of someone you haven’t seen or talked to in a long time, reach out to them. If you have a sense that someone is in need, connect with them. If you get the urge to shift a habit, give a gift, or change direction, do it. As you receive confirmation that your intuition is guiding you and not survival instincts nor ego then you’ll gain confidence in working with this higher mental faculty, and your intuition will become more valuable and regarded by you. Intuition is one of our higher mental faculties, mind is God's greatest creation, mind is movement and the body is the manifestation of this movement. "A great and strong wind moved the mountains, and broke the rocks in pieces; but God was not in the wind; and after the wind an earthquake; but God was not in the earthquake; And after the earthquake a great fire; but God was not in the fire: and after the fire; a still small voice; and God was this voice" 1Kings 19:11 “The power of intuitive understanding will protect you from harm until the end of your days.” -Lao Tzu There’s a poem called “Thank God for Dirty Dishes” This makes the point that if we are blessed to have food to make dirty dishes, we can be grateful for those dishes. So goes the logic: instead of complaining about taxes, be thankful for the ability to earn money and to own things. While waiting in line or stuck in traffic, be grateful to have money to buy things and transportation to get where you want to go. It makes sense, but that doesn’t make it's easy to remember to be grateful in the moment. Gratitude might be misinterpreted for being satisfied with the status quo. Appreciation may suggest that you’re grateful with the way circumstances are. THE NEXT STEP: What if we go higher and experience appreciation for it's magnetic power?
As we awaken to the Good in our circumstances and opportunity in our conditions we can see that Good exists in all situations because Good is universal & unconditional. God is Good, Good is Not dependent on circumstances and conditions. It really does feel wonderful to acknowledge all the Good in life regardless of perceived duality. Real gratitude is much more than politeness, like saying "thank you" when someone passes the salt or compliments us; it’s a deeper spiritual state of Divine oneness & awareness. What if great fortune is not the product of our own labor and talents nor random luck nor chance? What if our abundance is ever present and an eternal gift from God? What if we spent a full day identifying everything that is a gift, all that we did not make nor earn? Imagine a day like that and now double it and live in that state of awareness. According to an old proverb, “If you never learn the language of gratitude, you’ll never be on speaking terms with true wellbeing & happiness.” Let's grow our Gratitude muscle so we can expand and express as vessels of Divine Operation and Infinite Supply. In simple terms the Order of Creation goes like this:
1. Decide what you want. Decide the kind of day you want. Decide the types of interactions with people you desire. Decide the state of your body. Decide what kinds of places you want to visit, everything from restaurants to vacations. Decide what kind of environment you want to live, work and play in. 2. Get your emotions and thoughts lined up with your desires. Decide which perspectives serve you best when focusing on each desire. If you want more money, but you are focused on the pressure of the debt you're in, you will manifest more debt. In this example, you will begin to focus your attention on making progress in paying off the debt. You may focus your attention on attracting additional income. The bottom line is that you need to give your energy to what you do want, not what is unwanted. 3. Believe that your desires are already done. Longing, wishing and hoping that something will manifest is a start, but when you dwell in the present moment as the fullness of who you know yourself to be, That is your True Power. Truly knowing that you can and will be that. Declare: "I Am That"! Expect that every day you will have great experiences. All the inspired actions you take will come from your intuition not your survival instincts. No forcing, shoulding nor guilting yourself into action. 4. Arise Every Morning tuned into the guidance of your Inner Higher Self who knows The Way. Enjoy the journey as much as the destination. “Those who dream by day are cognizant of many things that escape those who dream only at night.” -Edgar Allan Poe Do you realize that you have an incredible imagination? So many people don’t realize just how powerful and amazing their imagination is, because they’ve spent years dismissing, ignoring or stifling it. That is simply a consequence of upbringing and the programming almost all of us have been subjected to. The very best way to begin understanding the power of your imagination is to witness it for yourself. Today, all day, pay close attention to the IMAGES you hold in your head. Don’t try to change them or even judge them at this point. Simply start noticing how your imagination behaves and what it focuses on. Jot these images down in your journal. Examine those internal images, and look for the ways they connect to your external life. Write down any connections you make in the moment. And keep some kind of note-taking device handy throughout the day. Once you start doing this, you’ll find connections revealing themselves to you constantly. What you’re going to realize through this exercise, in a very real, direct way, is that you have chosen the life you’re living today, the good and the bad of it, through the power of your mind. Depending on your perspective, this is a very empowering thought. As you realize your imagination has crafted your current life, it will become very clear that you have the power to design and form any circumstance you desire. Your Super Conscious Self is listening and will respond generously in multiplied ways. |
