Grateful Beyond Words
A blind man sat on the steps of a building with a hat by his feet. He held up a sign which read, “I am blind, please help.” There were only a few coins in the hat – spare change from folks as they hurried past. A man was walking by. He took a few coins from his pocket and dropped them into the hat. He then took the sign, turned it around, and wrote some words. Then he put the sign back in the man’s hand so that everyone who walked by would see the new words. Soon the hat began to fill up. A lot more people were giving money to the blind boy. That afternoon, the man who had changed the sign returned to see how things were. The man recognized his footsteps and asked, “Were you the one who changed my sign this morning?" "What did you write?” The man said, “I only wrote the truth. I said what you said but in a different way.” I wrote, “Today is a beautiful day, but I cannot see it.” Both signs spoke the truth. But the first sign simply said the man was blind, while the second sign conveyed to everyone walking by how grateful they should be to have physical sight. So what is gratitude? Gratitude is a conscious awareness that this is all a gift. We form the habit of tuning into that awareness, like tuning a radio to a different frequency. Gratitude is a perception and an awareness. It is a way of looking at the world and seeing with the eyes of God and hearing with the ears of God. When we see as God sees then we witness "Christ" in all and through all. Christ being the power, life and wisdom of God. This Divine perfection is in all and when we witness that perfection, then we bring it to the surface. Gratitude arises because we witness the perfection in all with a feeling of appreciation, regardless of whether or not the current situation is to our ego's liking. Ignore what the ego is pointing out to you. The ego is limited because it's only able to perceive with the 5 senses, it's an accuser because it only remembers the failures of the past, It's a liar because it can not perceive the truth of you. It's the made up false sense of self and we get trapped in agreeing with its private message sown into our mind. Turn the channel! Tune up to the God Frequency. Gratitude allows a heart-centered approach to life that brings us into Serenity. When you practice asking for God's vantage point, then gratitude can help but arise and attract even MORE things into your life for which to be grateful. Go ahead, try being One with God's Mind right now. Baby steps, like learning to walk, will turn into full blown running marathons of gratitude. It will become second nature to be in harmony with this One Unified Perception that all is Good, all is Whole and all is Well. Here's a Simple Practice:
Have a Glorious Day practicing The Way.
